Way back in the year 1924 José Puertas was born in Campo, a small town in the Aragonese Pyrenees of Spain. Being only 18 and driven by a yearning desire of growth he embarked himself on a sailing ship to Chile.
After the long trip, he headed for the South of the world where he became enchanted by a deep valley, surrounded by high mountains located in the 7th Region of Chile, called Curico ( which in the Mapuche dialect means Black Water).
From that moment on Curico, or Black Water, became the valley where Jase Puertas Pons would spend the rest of his life. Over time, that generous, visionary and hardworking man grew loved and was appreciated by everyone around.
